The architectural remnants of the Middle Ages—from castles and cathedrals to village churches—provide many people’s first point of contact with the medieval period and its culture. Such concrete survivals provide a direct link to the material experience of medieval people. At the same time, exploring the ways in which architecture was conceptualised and depicted, can contribute to our understanding of the ideological and imaginative worldview of the period.

This two day conference will contribute to this field of enquiry by bringing together an international body of leading scholars, early-career academics, and graduate students from a range of fields and facilitating discussion and collaboration across traditional scholarly disciplines.

Conference Fee:
Includes teas, coffees and lunches
Standard registration - £50
Graduate and unwaged - £40

Conference dinner:
A three course dinner plus coffee at Wadham College, Oxford - £50

We have a number of partial bursaries (up to £100) available for graduate/early career researchers attending the conference (primarily to assist those who have no access to research funding). If you think that you qualify for such a bursary, please email the conference team here.
