Decision-making under Deep Uncertainty Conference - DMDU

Decision-making under Deep Uncertainty Conference - DMDU

Description

Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty workshop & training day

13–15 November 2017, Oxford

The Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU)’s annual workshop will be held in Oxford on 14-15 November 2017, preceded by a training day on DMDU methodologies on 13 November 2017. Dinner on the evening of 14 November will be held in Oxford’s historic Museum of Natural History.

The Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty aims to improve decision-making under deep uncertainty, and foster effective and responsible decision-making in our rapidly changing world. This year’s workshop will focus on dealing with deep uncertainty in decision making across multiple scales: embracing spatial scales, temporal scales and the governance issues that they create.

The training day on 13 November will provide guidance for those who wish to apply DMDU tools to the analytical problems they face. But just as importantly, the agenda also seeks to help people working with the output of DMDU tools, so that they might derive better understanding and value in appling these results.

ECI Alumni Dinner 2017

ECI Alumni Dinner 2017

Description

ECI Alumni Dinner 2nd September 2017

All ECI alumni, staff and current students are invited to join us for the annual ECI Alumni Dinner on 2 September 2017.

In the context of ECI's new mentoring programme for ECM students, this year's afternoon programme will focus on key employability skills for environmentalists, with expert input by Sam Gordon (ECM 2007-08, Research Analyst, Association of Graduate Recruiters) and other alumni. We look forward to discussing how you got the hang of managing up and self-awareness, and how the network can learn from each other.

From 5 pm onwards we will be at The Queen's College to hear alumna Dr Vanessa Timmer (1996-97, co-founder and Executive Director of One Earth, a nonprofit ‘think and do’ tank based in Vancouver, Canada) give the pre-dinner talk "From ECM to imagining sustainable futures", followed by drinks and a three-course dinner in hall.

Guests are most welcome!

12.30 pm | Lunch at the School of Geography and the Environment

1.30 pm |Welcome and update on all things ECI

2 pm | Afternoon programme: Closing the skills gap for environmentalists Sam Gordon (ECM 2007-08)
