Somerville College Development Programme is a series of skills workshops on issues that our students have identified as important to support their academic work, wellbeing and career planning. They are open to all students, undergraduate and postgraduate. Events take place either over lunchtime or in the early evenings before dinner. We’re bringing some of this term’s talks to you again through Teams but where possible we’ll deliver them ‘hybrid’ style. Claire’s ‘Drop in advisory sessions/CV clinics’ are normally on Wednesday afternoons from 3rd week onwards, or by appointment at other times.
Seminar topics include interview skills, time-management, wellbeing, presentation skills and public speaking workshops, academic writing/reference management systems, careers and CVs as well as how to find the perfect internship and career development opportunities.
The Director of the Thatcher Scholarship Programme – Claire Cockcroft – is available on Wednesday afternoons to discuss your CV, internships, ideas for a Development Award and general advice to help you get the most from your time at Somerville. Email email@example.com to make an appointment (or request another day) and contact Claire if you have suggestions for seminars/skills training sessions
