DescriptionThe 2025 Oxford Media Policy Summer Institute comes at a critical moment. Today’s international system faces unprecedented challenges including fragmentation and new modes of ordering with significant implications for media and communications technologies. The future of media development is uncertain, fact-checking and content moderation efforts are being undermined, and inequalities are deepening. Join us in Oxford for two weeks as we engage speakers and participants from around the world to debate rapidly changing current events. From the politics of AI policymaking across the global south, to the approach of Big Tech- from the US to China- towards global markets, and the erosion of ethics and responsibility in AI, we will also explore efforts of resistance emerging from Africa and alternative ways of fostering inclusion and reimaginging a shared future. In the context of continuing global conflicts and intersected crises, we will also explore some of the ideological underpinnings that appear to be infusing some of the sweeping shifts we are witnessing, including questions around the role of the state, law (or non-law), and values. The early decision application deadline was 21 March
