Why study Georgian language at REES?

Positioned between the Middle East and Russia with strong European influences Georgia is of interest to students studying politics, IR, modern history or political economy. You may be captivated by its wonderful landscape, its turbulent medieval history, the remains of ancient Greek settlements or perhaps just love the challenge of learning a new, beautiful language, distinct from other world languages.

Whatever your motivation, as you progress, our tutor will seek to customise the course to meet your interests and we will invite you to the events of our Georgian programme. Our advanced students have special translation classes and have recently had a book of translations of short stories and plays published (“Unlocking the Door”).
