Gazette advertisement - commercial advertisers

Description

The final Gazette of Hilary term to carry adverts has now been published. The first issue of Trinity term will be published on 18 April; adverts for this issue must be placed and paid for by noon on Wednesday 10 April.

The Gazette is no longer published in print. We will continue to publish online editions of the Gazette and send emails to our subscribers, and print copies will be distributed to libraries and archives.

We have therefore reduced the price of advertising by £10 per insertion to reflect the fact that we are not incurring print-related costs.

Purchase advertising space in the University of Oxford Gazette if you are a commercial advertiser.

Am I in the right place?

Commercial advertisers are those who are advertising their potentially or actually profit-making business, property or service. If you expect to pay income tax or capital gains tax on profits from the business or service you are advertising, you are a commercial advertiser.

Examples of commercial adverts:

  • Renting out property, such as holiday lets or a second property
  • Offering tuition in any subject as a professional tutor or trainer Offering any kind of professional service (eg cleaning, building, driving, physiotherapy etc)
  • Buying/selling goods as a business (eg buying second-hand books, cars etc with the intention of selling them on)

If none of these apply to you, you are probably a private advertiser. Click here to go to the online shop for private advertisers instead.

How much does it cost?

  • For £20 you can have an advert up to 70 words in one issue of the Gazette.
  • For £40 you can have an advert of 71–150 words in one issue of the Gazette.

If you would like to advertise for the full year at a substantial discount, please click here to see our shop for whole-year advertisements.

Private advertisers are those who will make no profit or taxable income from responses to their advertisement. Non-profit organisations, such as other universities and schools, are also classed as private advertisers.

Examples of commercial adverts:

  • Selling your own possessions (eg unwanted furniture, cars, books)
  • Selling your current home in order to buy a new one
  • Renting out your own home while you're away for a short period
  • Renting a room in your own house to a lodger or paying guest
  • Seeking a service, such as tutoring or a home help, for your own benefit
  • Seeking to buy items for your own use (eg buying books for your own collection or a car to drive yourself)
  • Seeking staff to work at a non-profit organisation

If none of these apply to you, you are probably a commercial advertiser. Click here to go to the online shop for commercial advertisers instead.
