Wytham Woods form the research woodland of the University of Oxford, which has owned the site since the early 1940s. They extend over almost 400 hectares (1000 acres) and are often described as the most researched area of woodland in the world, owing to their unrivalled history of scientific data collection. However, they are also a place of wonder and delight with over 32km of paths to explore. In addition to being studied by its research community the site is enjoyed by walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and school children.
