The Living Bookshelf: The Ancient Library in Text

This conference will take place at Corpus Christi College, 12th-14th September 2025. The speakers will explore how ancient literary cultures thought about their libraries, particularly in the ancient Mediterranean. Papers will investigate how writers responded to the library, how they constructed 'libraries' within their texts, and 'library' as a conceptual category might advance our understanding of texts.
