Seeking The Wooing Group (conference)

This conference, to be held at the University of Oxford from 25th-26th September 2026, focuses on the group of Early Middle English texts known collectively as The Wooing Group. There has been growing interest in these texts over the past two decades, as embodied in what is still the only volume of essays dedicated to the group (The Milieu and Context of the Wohunge Group, ed. Susannah Mary Chewning (Cardiff: University of Wales Press, 2009)). But these texts remain under-studied (as is much Early Middle English).

This conference aims to bring together scholars working on The Wooing Group and related texts, celebrating the scholarship that has been done and offering an avenue for further scholarship.
