Medical SpR Simulation ProgrammeInfo Location Additional Items More Info Course Information![]() Medical SpR Simulation ProgrammeGeneral Internal Medicine registrars are frequently required to perform or supervise a range of core bedside procedures in acute and inpatient settings. However, clinical exposure to these skills can be variable, and opportunities for supervised practice are often limited. This procedural skills session has been developed to provide structured, hands-on training in essential techniques such as pleural aspiration, ascitic drainage, lumbar puncture, and cardioversion. The aim is to enhance confidence, ensure patient safety, support curriculum requirements, and provide a safe environment in which to practise, refine, and maintain procedural competence. The fully funded, 'Medical' SpR Simulation training programme is being run in conjunction with OxSTaR on Thursday 21st May 2026 Bookings are being taken by OxSTaR on a first-come-first serve basis. See table below for station start time- Each station is 1 hour, so there will be 4 trainees per group who will rotate through

There are also optional Lumbar puncture skills training sessions available in the afternoon with 4 trainees per group - If Lumbar puncture station is required, you specifically sign up for an afternoon slot.
