Course Description

A practical viva course for trainees approaching the MRCS Part B examination, dedicated to high-volume, high fidelity practice on simulatable skills for the technical skills section of the OSCE.       1:1 Faculty-to-Candidate Ratio: Individual attention from the examiners. Separate examiners for each station means each viva is a fresh experience, with time for dedicated feedback before continuing the circuit.

Intensive Format: A rigorously designed OSCE format where every station is a different technical skills station designed to simulate the cases and pacing of the MRCS examination.

Dedicated Technical Focus: The curriculum focuses entirely on technical skills and the associated viva questions.

Viva practice course: the course is run in an OSCE format as practice in a simulated examination scenario for those approaching the MRCS Part B exam.

Tasks extracted from the MRCS syllabus including: chest drain insertion, abscess I&D, lesion excision,

The course will be running its first round as a ‘soft-launch’ to get feedback from candidates on the circuit design, viva questions, and delivery of feedback. This will inform the definitive course which will run three times per year in the month preceding each MRCS Part B diet in February, May and October.
